Tried It Tuesday: Little Salad Bar Half Sours

Man...I wanted to like these.
I actually bought 2 containers of them at $3.79 each.
But, they were just awful. No real "pickle" taste at all.
Its more like a mini cucumber dunked inside a watered down, white vinegar with spices floating around them, but oddly have no hint of those spices in their taste.

Skip your $3.79 or better yet...put it towards the cost of some Claussen's.

Disclosure: Aldi hasn't paid me in any way for this post.
Nor have they supplied any of the items I have reviewed in this post.

Popping in to say hello!

I find myself at lease twice per year totally dropping the ball on the blog. :(
I always have the best of intentions to faithfully write a post each and every day.
Only to have life happen and then I don't.
Its the first thing to get left behind because it is truly a hobby that can take a break while the unexpected occurrences of life take over.
For that I apologize dear readers.
But most of you understand because it happens to us all.

I hope this finds you all doing well and down in the trenches of the holidays with me.
This time of year is always so busy for us all.
Hopefully after all the madness is over I can spare an hour or so to catch up here on the blog.
Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Thrifty Thursday: Aldi.

You guys already know I love me some Aldi.
My most popular blog post is the review I did for their brands
of laundry products HERE.
No surprise, because when I made that post, I had been searching for a complete review myself before purchasing the products and couldn't find one.

Aldi has saved our family soooo much money.
We literally have been shopping only at Aldi, Winn Dixie
and Sam's Club, for awhile now.
I find it so much better than hunting down the ever evasive coupon deals, especially when the shelves here are usually cleared by the store employees
minutes after the ads change over.
It became pointless to even try.

My saving grace!
Their prices are lower than most coupon deals I ever got here.
Florida's cost of living is high...really high.
So I am amazed at Aldi's prices for our area.
They are always our first stop, Winn Dixie is next for anything we didn't get at Aldi.
Followed by Sam's Club once per month for bulk items.
That's it.
I can always count on their consistent low prices.

Do you guys love Aldi as much as I do?
What are your favorite items?
Least favorite?

Works for me Wednesday: Tried and True

Old-Time Beef Stew

We had a menu change for this week, our tried and true beef stew recipe.
( click the image above for the recipe)
Its a rainy, yucky day here in Florida.
Which is normal for the rainy season, so I should be used to it, but I'm not!
It just seemed appropriate for the day.
We tend to have all the ingredients on hand, which is great!
It's delicious, warming and comforting on this dreary day!

Tried It Tuesday: Simply Nature Almond Butter.

SimplyNature Creamy Almond Butter

I have been loving this almond butter!
It costs $5.99 for a rather small jar and I almost didn't buy it because of that price.
But I needed it and I didn't have time to go to Publix for it.
I'm glad I did! Its tasty!
There is mild separation, so you have to stir it each time.
I dip my apple slices in it, smear it on toast and slather it all over bananas.
Don't look at the price and just try it!
Soooo good!

Disclosure: Aldi hasn't paid me in any way for this post.
Nor have they supplied any of the items I have reviewed in this post.
